Issue #62 - Video

[mistconduct]

[In the mess hall is Chris, who's somehow procured a gigantic poster board stretching a good twelve feet across.

On the board is pinned a photo of everyone on the Barge. Marker in hand, Chris begins going through the photos one by one - every time he gets to someone he knows is changed, he scribbles a black goatee on their face. Yes, even the women. Especially the women.

He pauses when he hits Tig Traeger.

And then takes out a small bottle of White-Out and begins to carefully erase his goatee]

It's what Owlman did in Batman's world, apparently. Took over his life and crapped all over it because it was a world he was figured was ripe for his type of crime.

[ Jack took his hand back, looking back at the list. ]

That's... the hard part, though. No matter what we do, we're condemning someone to suffering.

[mistconduct]

Yeah, tell me about it.

Maybe we could only switch some people. Keep the rest.

[sickjoke]

Wouldn't that be nice.

[ And Jack really does believe that it would be. Save double the souls, condemn the wardens to their hungry ship. ]

You maybe we should do some door-checks. See what rooms changed, that sort of thing? Go to door to door, ask if they've accepted the Good Ship Redemption or if they're Team Goatee, or something, for our unknowns. Have to ask Derek how bootcamp went, see who showed up, if anyone was weird...

[mistconduct]

Yeah, hit me after breakfast, I'll do that. There's way too many people I'm unsure on.

[sickjoke]

Yeah, me too. We can partner up. Like -- Jehovah's Witnesses. Or Mormons.

[ He doodled a fine goatee on Vergil, and then he added one to Iris... along with a dark bob to simulate Bianca's hair. ]

Bianca's not hard to miss, she's totally different from Iris.

[mistconduct]

I'm not carrying a bible with me when we go.

...Ah, shit. Iris? Really?

Fuck.

[sickjoke]

Yeah.

[ He draws a goatee on C'rizz next. ]

Pretty much all my friends except Derek, so far.

[mistconduct]

Oh, fucking wonderful. At least he's not changed, I need to turn my homework into him in two days.

[sickjoke]

Yeah, he needs some grounding, in routine.

[ And probably a new cuddle buddy. ]

[mistconduct]

Tell me about it. He loses his mind whenever a crisis hits. I think he actually gets worried about people.

[sickjoke]

He does. He cares a lot and it's scary and new and he doesn't know how to cope. But he's learning, so... try and be gentle with him, okay? He's a bit high strung and he panics easy. You take people out of their element, take their control away, that happens.

So... yeah.

[ Sometimes being Derek's friend is hard. ]

[mistconduct]

I'm always gentle with Powers. I'm a kitten to him.

[sickjoke]

[ Jack choked on a laugh ]

I wouldn't put it that way to him, though.

[mistconduct]

Oh, I would. I so would.

[sickjoke]

Seriously. Don't. We got into a fist fight because I'm 'too soft' on him.

[mistconduct]

He'd never hit me. We grew up on the Spice Girls together.

[sickjoke]

You are a wonder, Chris D'amico. [ He says it with laughter, and a smile. ] Anyway, don't let this get you down. We've got work to do, and this does help.

[mistconduct]

I'm good. I'm good. I know what I'm doing. And it can't be for very long, right?

Four days max, right? Here's hoping that this cinches up neatly in the near future.
